Meet Pug Scoville

Learn more about this month’s featured member, the Director of Education and Communications for the Tennessee Association of REALTORS.

Pug has held this post for 25 years in an association with over 22,000 members statewide.  His success is due to that fact that he is always on the lookout for new ideas, and discovered long ago that mixing with folks outside of his own industry is a great catalyst for new approaches to the challenges faced at work.  Pug oversees all of the Association’s education offerings -- both classroom and e-learning offerings, as well as programming for Conference and Conventions.  He has developed two different instructor-training programs for real estate instructors; one was ultimately endorsed by the National Association of REALTORS and adopted by at least 20 other states.  He has also led leadership development retreats (for volunteer and elected leaders in REALTOR associations for over 20 years.

Pug enjoys writing, reading, fishing (still hasn't mastered fly-fishing, but will someday), sailing, visiting with his children and grandchildren, and church activities, particularly world missions.  Although his job doesn't allow much time for leisurely travel, he and his wife and enjoy it when they can.

He began professional life as a high school French teacher and soccer coach at two prep schools, one in Massachusetts and one in Florida. He then shifted his focus to adult education and training in the mid-1970s when returning to Nashville to earn a Master's degree at Peabody. Pug worked for a time as a freelance writer in the late '70s and early '80s scripting training videos for Florida Power and light and several other companies.
