June 2010 Volunteer Spotlight: Kim Wright
Kim may be a new member to our chapter, but she is already making a difference. Read on to find out more about Kim Wright, our featured volunteer of the month.
Kim Wright joined the Middle Tennessee Chapter of ASTD about six months ago. Kim is an Account Manager with Cisco Webex, the leading provider of web collaboration software delivered via Software as a Service (no equipment or hardware to install or maintain). In this role, Kim helps organizations reduce training costs and increase comprehension and retention through interactive virtual trainings. Cisco Webex Training Center provides the tools for instructors to replicate the environment of a face-to-face training in a virtual environment.
Not long after joining the chapter, Kim offered to share her time and skills by joining the membership committee. As a part of the membership team, she has been reaching out to previous members to invite them to upcoming meetings, inquire about why they have allowed their membership to expire, and find out if they are interested in becoming involved in ASTD again. This committee’s efforts to reconnect with inactive and former members are an integral piece to the chapter’s overall membership goals. When asked why she volunteers with MT-ASTD, Kim says, “I think ASTD provides an excellent networking opportunity and provides valuable programs to help people to advance their career in training and development.”
Kim, an Illinois native, made the move to the Nashville area four years ago with her husband, a Nashville native, and their two children. She is currently pursuing an MBA at Belmont University. When not involved in her volunteer efforts, school studies, or work, Kim enjoys traveling, playing the piano and cooking.
Our next meeting is June 17th. Be sure to look for Kim and say hello.
