July 2010 Volunteer Spotlight: Leslie Ballard
Leslie Ballard took on the role of Senior Instructional Designer at Asurion about 9 months ago. As a member of the Organizational Development and Training department, Leslie designs eLearning courses, job aids, and other learning materials. In addition, she is responsible for the metrics, evaluation, and reporting around all of Asurion’s training activities and their Learning Management System (LMS).
Leslie is a relatively new member of the Middle Tennessee Chapter of ASTD. She joined our chapter about 6 months ago, but she is a former member of the Heart of Florida chapter. Leslie is a volunteer for the Marketing and Communications Committee. She assists mainly with MT-ASTD’s Twitter account and the chapter website. She hopes to branch into photography for the chapter very soon as time allows.
When asked why she volunteers her time to MT-ASTD, Leslie simply says, “Our industry is one where success comes from collaboration. I enjoy supporting an organization that helps us all succeed.”
Leslie is originally from Sikeston, Missouri. However, she went to college in Costa Mesa, California, and then graduate school in Gainesville, Florida. She and her husband have decided to make Middle TN their permanent home. Leslie enjoys photography, tae kwon do, and anything to do with gadgets, social media, and technology. In addition to volunteering with MT-ASTD, Leslie is also a volunteer with Civil Air Patrol and IMPS miniature pinscher rescue. Last but not least, she is a proud and rabid FLORIDA GATOR. Chomp chomp!
