The views can be admired from different angles thanks to the huge windows situated on three sides. The renovation and transformation focused on turning the space into an inviting home with contemporary features but, at the same time, the main concern was to enhance the industrial context and to preserve as much as possible from the existing structure. The main intervention was a compressed box-like structure that contains the kitchen and supportive spaces and separates the public and private areas.
The most impressive part of the loft is the guest bedroom. It’s not just any space. It’s a room that was encased by curved glass walls. This allows it to serve as the centerpiece of the loft, resembling a beautiful dome. It’s not exactly a private space but it’s definitely an eye-catching feature and a unique focal point. The rest of the rooms share a minimalist and contemporary décor focused on clean lines and angles, neutral colors and very few unnecessary elements. The living area is a vast space with beautiful columns and a stylish high ceiling.
The internal structure features a series of space organized as overlapping zones. This allows them to maintain a sense of openness throughout the loft. This detail along with the large windows, also contribute to a strong indoor-outdoor relationship. The loft has terraces on the East and West facades. One is an extension of the master bedroom while the other is adjacent to the living and dining spaces. The interior design focuses on comfort and serves as a relaxing getaway for the owners.
Originally a space with a strong industrial design, the loft features tall vaulted ceiling, steel columns and an overall open feel. The architects in charge had to make lots of changes. They first decided to open up the space and to expose all the beautiful structural elements such as the brick walls and ceilings, columns, etc. After that, they gave the space a modern makeover. The kitchen was placed adjacent to the freight elevator but, since it had to natural light, the elevator doors were replaced with fire-rated glass doors.
Union Square Loft project - The last amazing loft we’re going to show you today is also located in Manhattan. New York City. It’s a 3,600 square foot space and was a project by New York City-based studio Naiztat + Ham Architects. The Union Square Loft project involved the complete renovation and remodel of the space. The goal was to turn it into a modern living space.
